DIY Toilet Paper Firecrackers

These easy DIY Firecrackers are so incredibly quick to make and with just a few supplies you can have them done in minutes.  They add the perfect touch to your patriotic decor.  Find the free pattern below with lots of photos and easy-to-follow instructions.

INSPIRATION

I recently made a Patriotic Fabric Rag Garland, and as with all my fabric garlands I had fabric leftover.  With the leftover fabric from my Halloween garland I made toilet paper pumpkins, which led me to make toilet paper bunnies with my leftover fabric from my spring garIand, which then led me to make these oh-so-cut toilet paper firecrackers with my leftovers from my patriotic garland. I love it when I can find ways to use up my extra supplies and these easy DIY firecrackers do just that.  Plus, buying your toilet paper and sparkly balloon weight at your local dollar store makes this project budget friendly too!

PROJECT MATERIALS

Supplies needed for DIY Toilet Paper Firecrackers, easy DIY firecrackers project

NOTE:  I bought the toilet paper and patriotic balloon weight at the Dollar Tree.

FABRIC

You can buy fabric for this easy DIY firecracker project or use leftover fabric you already have. I used leftover fabric from the Patriotic Fabric Rag Garland project I did earlier.

Fabric should be at least 18″ x 18″.  My leftover fabric was approximately 19 x 24.

BALLOON WEIGHT

I found my balloon weight at our local Dollar Tree.  The weight does not have to be patriotic as long as the top sparkler is blue, red or even silver.  Since my fabric is red I chose a weight with a blue sparkler.

ADDITIONAL MATERIALS

Wire Cutters
Toilet Paper Roll(s)
NOTE:  I bought my toilet paper from the Dollar Tree and their roles are not as wide as more expensive brands.  If you are using a name brand, fatter toilet paper roll I suggest unrolling and eliminating some of it so your firecracker doesn’t look too fat.

PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS

LEFT PHOTO – From the top of your toilet paper roll, pull up the last bit of fabric that was tucked in, pulling up just enough to loosen the fabric from the tube.

MIDDLE PHOTO – Pushing the pulled up fabric to the side with your finger, insert the stem down into the toilet paper tube.

RIGHT PHOTO – With the stem in place, tuck the pulled up fabric down and around the stem to hold it in place.
NOTE:  I did not do so, but you can glue the stem down into the tube with a glue gun or tacky glue before tucking the fabric around the stem, making it more stable in the tube.
